Knee, Hip & Extremity Pain in Capac, MI

Chiropractic is not just for the spine

Knees, hips, shoulders, elbows, and ankles are joints too, and they respond to adjusting the same way the back does.

Joints beyond the back

A lot of folks think a chiropractor only works on the spine. Not so. Dr. Todd has adjusted extremities for as long as he has adjusted backs: sore knees, aching hips, stiff shoulders, cranky elbows, and rolled-up ankles. If it is a joint, it can get stuck, inflamed, and painful, and it can be treated.

Out here that means a lot of wear-and-tear and overuse: a shoulder worn down from throwing bales and wrenching bolts, knees and hips that have carried hard work for decades, an ankle turned wrong stepping off a tailgate.

Everything connects

Joints work as a chain. A stiff hip changes how the knee tracks; a bad ankle throws off the whole leg; a locked-up shoulder pulls on the neck. Dr. Todd looks at how the painful joint moves and at the joints above and below it, so the fix actually holds.

How Dr. Todd treats it

  • Extremity adjusting. Restoring motion in the joint itself, by hand or with gentle instrument adjusting.
  • Soft tissue work. Certified Graston Technique and vibration therapy for the tight muscles and tendons around the joint.
  • Pain-relieving therapies. Ultrasound, cold laser, and electrotherapy to knock down swelling and pain.

Straight talk

Not every joint problem is a chiropractic one. A joint that is hot, badly swollen, or gave out after a real injury may need imaging or a specialist first. Walk in, and Dr. Todd will tell you honestly what you are dealing with.
